The first round of this year's Youth Speaks competition will take place on Thursday, 7th February at Northgate Methodist Church in Barrack Street, Warwick. This is part of a National event organised by Rotary to encourage young people to develop confidence and display their debating skills to a wider audience. Today's speaker is Sue Harrison, who is an Ultra Distance runner Since joining Leamington Cycling & Athletics Club in 1986 she has run well over 50,000 miles in training and racing (which equates to more than twice around the world). Starting out as an 800m, 1500m and cross-country runner she progressed up the distances over the years and moved more towards road running, eventually running her first marathon in 2001. Warwick Half Marathon
The Warwick Half Marathon, run in aid of the British Heart Foundation will take place from Warwick Racecourse on Sunday March 3rd, 2019. It will follow its traditional route through the lovely Warwickshire countryside providing athletes with an excellent opportunity to compete in an undulating, traffic free road race. Come and keep a tradition alive - -we are looking for teams to come and race. On Tuesday, March 5th Cllr Mrs Moira-Ann Grainger, Leader of Warwick Town Council will set off local children in the annual pancake races organised by the Rotary Club of Warwick.
