Please note. Although this is a fifth Wednesday of the month, there will not be an Evening Meeting. The club will however meet for a normal lunch-time meeting which is taking the format of an open discussion and an observation get-together, and will be followed by a brief talk by Alan Bailey on Irish History - if there can be such a thing as a 'brief talk' on this subject.

John Miles from the Leatherhead Rotary Club is a Trustee of Global Sight Solutions, which was previously known as The Guildford Rotary Eye Project which is an RIBI approved avoidable blindness programme. The purpose of this is to provide free eye care, such as cataract operations, to those in India, Africa and elsewhere who are sadly too poor to be able to access such things for themselves. He will be giving a talk on the work of his charity.

Club Lunchtime Meeting
Since last speaking to the club, David Phillips, a local accountant, has completed his 5ooth Marathon, and in the process has raised over £125,000 for the Brain & Spine Foundation. But having reached his target he just can't stop, and in still participating most weekends, although he confesses that many of them are now half-marathons and run at a lot slower pace! He will talk about his experiences and his favoured charity. Host - Richard Ashley

Club Lunchtime Meeting
Today will be the Scholars Lunch, the occasion when senior representatives from local schools, together with teachers, visit the club for an exchange of ideas on the work of Rotary in the community and to hear from them how more can be done to help them in their objectives in preparing for life after leaving school. The meeting is organised by the club's Youth Committee.
