July 13, 2014 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
Town traders support the Thai Festival
Rotary Club organisers have welcomed the support shown by local businesses for next weekend’s Thai festival, Sunday July 13th
Over 2,000 people are expected in town next weekend to enjoy this exotic highlight of Warwick’s calendar. On Sunday the Market Square will host over 30 food and craft stalls full of the spiced aromas of eastern cooking.
Businesses around the square and members of Warwick Works, the new business community, have teamed up with the Rotary Club to give this fund raising event their support.
The Rose and Crown, The Lazy Cow Hotel and The Thomas Lloyd are cooking up, and donating raffle prizes for meals for two. Tesco has donated hampers of Thai products and visitors can win flights to Thailand in the raffle. Mazda are showcasing their latest cars, and the Art Kitchen is hosting the official party.
The day starts at 10.00 with a Buddhist Thanksgiving ceremony, followed by Thai drummers and dancers parading to the grand opening at 11.30. The Thai embassy and Tourist Board are keen to invite people back to Thailand, after recent troubles their country is “open for business”.
A day long programme of events will take place on the main stage of Thai dancing, drumming and demonstrations of cooking, flower arranging, and Thai boxing. The raffle will be drawn at 4.30, proceeds to charity.
Organiser Rotarian Alan Bailey said the club is delighted to get so much support from the town for this major event. Last year it was hotter in Warwick than in Bangkok and he is hoping for cooler weather this year.
So put it in your diary – 10 am – 5pm Sunday July 13th, and come prepared for a great day out.
