The Guys are ready – Are you??
November 7, 2015 @ 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Local children build Guys for the Town Bonfire on Sat Nov 7th
Remember, remember the 7th of November, gunpowder, treason, and plots…and Bonfires!
Cllr Christine Cross, Deputy Mayor of Warwick, and sponsor Ann Canning from The Tuckery in Warwick, visited Newburgh Primary School on Tuesday to see the two Guys made by the children and hear about the Gunpowder Plot. They had made a traditional guy and his modern terrorist equivalent.
They then went to Westgate School where the children had also made a very realistic Guy, who appears to be dreading his fate!
£200 donated by The Tuckery will be shared between the schools and support their activities.
All the Guys will be placed on the Warwick Bonfire to be lit by the Mayor on Saturday Nov 7th at 6.30 at Warwick racecourse. Gates open at 5pm and there is plenty to do before the bonfire and firework show starts.
Organisers are expecting a good crowd, there is free parking at the racecourse, and several food outlets with hot food, hot punch and candy floss, as well as a children’s play area.
Tickets can be purchased; in Warwick from Torrys in West Street; the main Post Office; Claridges; Cabin News; Mellors; Warwick vacuum shop; and the Tourist Information Centres in Warwick and Leamington; as well as Woodloes Post Office; and The Larder Box cafe at Chase Meadows. Further details can be found on-line through the website www.warwicktownbonfire.org.uk;
